A citizen’s right to vote – freely, without barriers or intimidation – gets at the very heart of what it means to be a democracy. It is a right that has been hard fought and hard won by so many. Exercising that right – and protecting that right - is the single best way to make sure that, in Lincoln’s words, “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”. Yeah, it’s that BIG. We each live up to the greatness in those words when we vote. So, go on now – Get Ur Vote On!

Songwriter and band frontwoman - Lily Vakili - has had a wild, freewheeling life: “I was born in Honduras during a military coup,” says the New Jersey-based artist, “and my dad had to walk over injured soldiers to welcome me to the world. He’s always said that set the stage for everything else in my life.” Raised in Honduras, Florida, Puerto Rico, Iowa and Thailand, she’s worked as a dancer, actress, summer stage director, choreographer, corn detasseler, night nurse, human rights researcher and waitress. Along the way, she became a lawyer and mother of three.
The Lily Vakili Band includes lead guitarist Ben St. Jacques; back up vocalist, Cecile Williams, harmonica player, Joel Dorow, bassist Jim Tyndall, and drummer Gordon Kuba. The band’s first album, titled “Oh Alright”, was produced by Ray Ketchem at Magic Door Recording. A second album – “American Storyland” - is in the works, engineered and produced by David Amlen of Sound on Sound Studios, and includes the standout singles “She Wants What”, “Facial Recognition Technology” and “We Got Dreams”.
