I think this current voting window rivals the stakes of a only a few other periods in American in terms of what follows next and whether the American experiment in democracy continues to bend toward the arc of justice vs. a slide into forms of fascism and open will to power of oligarchy over the people. We have to stay balanced and centered as we confront a politics that would have America be defined by a bar set by white grievances and the ugliest kind of identity politics. These forces will remain regardless of who is in office, but the current administration will continue to give comfort and legitimacy to forces that I believe seek to disintegrate democracy as we know it in favor of a system bent toward stark friend/enemy distinctions and might makes right morality.

Taylor is an Asheville-based songwriter who has been writing songs for about 20 years. Originally a guitarist, he played everything from metal to classic rock to folk to classical guitar. In his teens, he got inspired by Uncle Tupelo, The Jayhawks, Old 97's, and some of the other "alt-country" bands to start writing lyrics and singing. His work ranges through blues, folk, rock, and country/americana. He is currently very inspired by Bonnie Prince Billy, Jason Isbell, Jean Rohe, and Nathaniel Ratlieff, among others.
